The Taxi Driver

Yesterday I went to visit Mary; it is time to make up with her. After finishing the lecture I stopped that new white cab, they say it is fairer than the usual black and white taxi.
In the cab I called Mary to make sure I get the correct address, after hanging up with her, the taxi driver asked me “You seem to be losing patience easily, right?” Usually I get defensive when any stranger tries to talk to me, men like to flirt a lot.
So I told him briefly “kind of yes” so he asked me “may I ask which month you were born in? My guts told me that this is not flirting, the guy asked me which month, not which year, plus … I believe in that thing, that people who are born in the same months share some common qualities. So I told him “July”.
He told me and seemed to be embarrassed “well allow me to say that …” I told him quickly “ah, you wanna say that those who are born in winter are smarter than those who are born in summer”, he said quickly “No, what I am trying to say is, you don’t give others enough listening, you have listening issues, and, one more thing, you trust strangers a lot, and anyone can get you to talk and say everything about yourself easily, so, just be careful”

I was really amazed … that’s ME. He added “also, when you see someone and for example saw that they have a pretty nose you will JUMP and say that the whole face is pretty”
God … again that’s MEEEE. I remembered a story in the bible where the Samaria woman met with Jesus and Jesus told her everything in her life, she ran off to her country and said “come and look, someone told me everything I did”
I wanted to do the same with him. Anyways he started telling me “well we need to have more patience with people, and we need to think well before doing any action”
I got touched by the way he said “we” … he could have been an excellent teacher or a psychiatric. He said that he has a talent to know people’s characteristics from the first minute he see them. I told him “you must write all this experience down” so he said “well I didn’t even finish my primary school”.

He completed saying that I must stop rushing and think of things more wisely and give people more listening, so I told him “well, all these habits are already settled down in me and it is too late for me to change” He asked “How old are you” I said “23” He said “Well I am 44 and I am still learning”.
Now I reached Mary’s house and had to get out the cab, I thanked him and asked him to pray for me.

This post is dedicated to him, I don’t know his name and I don’t think I will meet him again. He is a simple man with no education but with a genius talented mind
